Information
Welcome to the “Powick Plod” home page.
The “Powick Plod” is a 5 mile run or 2.5 mile walk around the streets (and in some cases, fields) of Powick, in memory of Paige Philips.
Paige was a lively young girl whose life was tragically cut short in 2009 at the age of 9. She was a well loved girl, and at school was starting to really enjoy sport of all varieties. What better way to remember her than to organise a sporting event in her honour.
So, on the 21st March 2010, why not join us in remembering this lovely little girl by walking or running the route and take part in a real community driven event. The event is open to individual runners (16+) or a shorter route open to families who wish to walk.
Here’s how to do it:
Step 1
Download an application form from the link below, fill it in and send to the address shown along with a donation of £10 per family (Cash or Cheque – payable to “Friends of Powick School”). We are not expecting you to gather sponsorship, however the entrance fee will go towards a memorial for Paige at some stage in the future.
Step 2
Make sure you have a decent pair of trainers or walking boots.
Step 3
Get into training in January.
Step 4
Pitch up at Powick Playing fields at 10 am on Sunday March 21st, register and get your number .
Step 5
Be ready to set off at 11 am. Before you know it, you will have clocked up 5 miles (or 2.5 miles for the walkers) and raised some money for a good cause into the bargain.
Just think how much you will have earned your Sunday Lunch on that day!
If there is ever a good reason to get fit in the New Year, THIS IS IT !
